Microsoft founder Bill Gates and Chancellor George Osborne are in Liverpool discussing their joint efforts to fight malaria.

Billionaire Gates is visiting the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and has announced £3 billion of funding over the next five years.

£500 million a year would come from Britain's overseas aid budget for the next five years, as well as £140 million this year from The Gates Foundation.

There were 438,000 malaria deaths in 2015, according to the World Health Organisation.
