Storm Frank: Croston flood defence breach still being repaired by Army and emergency services as heavy rain falls

The Army and emergency services are continuing their attempts to fill a breach in a flood defence near the Lancashire village of Croston as heavy rain falls in the area.

There are still three severe flood warnings for Croston despite the efforts of an RAF Chinook and the Army to fill the gap yesterday.

Lancashire Police say the risk of further flooding in properties is low but residents are being urged to stay prepared nonetheless as heavy rain falls on the already flooded community.

Police say the RAF chinook helicopter that helped drop sandbags into the breach yesterday will not return today because of a technical issue but an alternative aircraft will arrive this afternoon to drop sandbags into the breach.
