UK floods: Army and RAF chinook drop sandbags as North West prepares for Storm Frank
The army and the RAF have been shoring up defences in flood-hit Lancashire as Storm Frank approaches threatening more rain and flooding.
A Chinook helicopter earlier dropped sandbags to reinforce breached defences on the river Douglas near Croston where three severe flood warnings are still in place.
Soldiers helped the Environment Agency and Fire Brigade by filling the one-tonne sandbags for the helicopter to lift into place.
The MP for South Ribble Seema Kennedy thanked the Army for helping to breach the defence which broke last night.
500 homes were left without power after flooding in the village on Boxing Day.
More heavy rain is forecast for the area overnight and into tomorrow as Storm Frank approaches the UK from the Atlantic.
