The jury in the Hillsborough Inquests has been hearing about the last moments of Henry Burke.

The 47-year-old father of three was described by his daughter Christine as having a fantastic sense of humour.

Ian Johnson, a Liverpool supporter who saw Mr Burke on the Leppings Lane terrace after the crowd crush said he was in a pile of bodies with his back to the pitch.

'He pulled his head forward in an effort to breath', said Mr Johnson.

The witness said he could only see Henry Burke from the shoulders up but he remembered him.

'It was like one of those pictures where the eyes keep following you...he was staring through me'.

A South Yorkshire police officer on duty that day PC James Grant gave evidence on a video link.

He admitted his statements and his pocket book notes gave conflicting accounts of his contact with Henry Burke.

Telling the jury his memory of the day was poor he apologised for what he called the 'mistake' of signing one statement he hadn't read.

He denied he had seen footage of himself carrying Mr Burke on a hoarding back in 1989 only weeks after the disaster.

He also denied knowing that the footage formed part of a compilation shown to MPs in the House of Commons by the then South Yorkshire Chief Inspector Norman Bettison.

Today marks the end of evidence in phase two of the inquests.

Tomorrow will resume with medical evidence about how and when the victims died.
