A police officer has described trying to revive a Liverpool fan by blowing into her mouth through a fence at Hillsborough.

But Steven Maddock said Inger Shah slowly turned blue and he thought he saw her die.

The inquests have heard how the 38 year old mother of two was trapped against a metal fence at the front of the Leppings Lane terrace on 15th April 1989.

Mr Maddock said: "My fingers were virtually bleeding through pulling at the wire mesh but it was just a forlorn hope really just to try our best."

Another officer described running with Ms Shah in his arms across the pitch.Mark Sowerby said she didn't show any signs of life.
