Capital One Cup: First Round Draw for North West Teams

Teams have been drawn for the first round of this years Capital One Cup and some fascinating match ups have come out of the hat:

• Bolton v Burton Albion

• Accrington Stanley v Hull City

• Rochdale v Coventry City

• Oldham v Middlesborough

• Morecambe v Sheffield United

• Wigan Athletic v Bury

• Northampton v Blackpool

• Crewe Alexander v Preston North End

• Port Vale v Burnley

• Fleetwood Town v Hartlepool United

• Blackburn Rovers v Shrewsbury town

For the Round 1 draw, the seeded teams like Blackpool, Burnley or Rochdale were split into two regional groups based on a ‘North’ and ‘South’ divide, and drawn against unseeded teams from the equivalent pot on a random home or away basis.

Last season Chelsea won the cup securing their first major trophy of the season by beating Tottenham 2-0.

Ties will be played on the week commencing August 10.
