Rare Lowry painting of Liver Buildings to take centre stage at exhibition

A rare painting of the Liver Buildings will go on display at the Lowry in Salford as part of a new exhibition celebrating the work of the Salford artist.

The Liver Buildings, Liverpool (1959) shows the landmark building from across the Mersey and is one of Lowry's lesser-known works, having been in private ownership for nearly 30 years and never having featured in a major public exhibition.

It's one of over 100 paintings and drawings on display in LS Lowry: The Art & The Artist – a new exhibition of the largest public collection of his work - which opens at The Lowry on Saturday 13 June.

The painting’s owner has agreed to lend the work for three years.
