£4million to restore historic Mersey ship

A tug that steamed up the River Mersey even before Liverpool's iconic Liver Building was built is to be restored with almost £4million of Heritage Lottery money.

The Daniel Adamson will be restore to her former glory at Cammell Laird ship yard in Birkenhead ahead of a new life taking cruises and educational trips around North West waters.

She was bought for just a few pence 11 years ago, days before her owners planned to have the vessel scrapped.
