Parklife festival WILL take place at Heaton Park this summer Manchester City Council and event organisers have announced. They claim there will be a 'Glastonbury-styl'e taskforce for the weekender taking place in Heaton Park on June 6th and 7th following complaints from the local community.

The taskforce, made up the City Council, police and organisers - supported by the neighbouring local authorities - will be responsible for implementing additional security measures to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour in areas surrounding the park as 130,000 music fans pour into the area.

Last year there were several stabbings and 26 year old Robert Hart was murdered in a violent attack there.

There will also be measures to improve transport, noise and cleaning.
