Micky Adams named as new Tranmere Rovers manager
Former Leicester and Sheffield United manager Micky Adams has been appointed the new Tranmere manager.
The 52-year-old has only been out of work for a few weeks after leaving Port Vale earlier this season and replaces Rob Edwards in the hot-seat at Prenton Park following his sacking on Monday.
Adams, who has won four promotions during an 18-year managerial career, has a different battle on his hands with Rovers as he inherits a club bottom of the Football League and without a win in seven league games.
Former Exeter defender Rob Edwards was dismissed earlier this week after less than six months in the role.
Rovers were relegated last season and had hoped to make an immediate return to Sky Bet League One but have made a poor start to life in the bottom division under Edwards, who replaced John McMahon at the end of May.
Adams will not take charge of Saturday's clash at Oxford, but will be in the dug-out for Tuesday's visit of Mansfield.
