Tranmere Rovers footballer Joe Thompson has been given the all-clear in his battle with cancer.

The midfielder has endured six months of chemotherapy after being diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma last November.

But today, on Twitter, he could hardly contain his relief. "COMPLETE REMISSION," he said.

"Two simple words :D. Just given the all clear off My Professor! Can't wait to get back out on the Football pitch."

Since first being diagnosed, Joe has raised more than £15,000 for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.
