Mathews is champ again
Derry Mathews became British lightweight champion for a second time after earning a split decision victory over Martin Gethin at Liverpool's Olympia.
Mathews first won the title by beating domestic rival Anthony Crolla in 2012 before losing it to Gavin Rees later that year, and was looking to bounce back from a loss last time out against Stephen Ormond.
The 30-year-old home favourite did exactly that as cards of 117-113 and 116-112 gave him victory, despite one judge scoring the fight 115-114 in Gethin's favour.
