St Helens has announced their match against Hull FC will be a tribute to the late Steve Prescott MBE.

With the support of the Humberside club and the Steve Prescott Foundation, the fixture at Langtree Park on Friday February 21, will herald the inaugural Steve Prescott Cup.

The 39-year-old died in November last year after a seven-year battle with a rare form of stomach cancer.

The Cup will be an annual event played between both of Steve’s former clubs, with the team having the highest aggregate score in the two regular Super League matches winning the trophy.

The home opener will also feature tributes to Steve and a past player guard of honour for his sons Taylor and Koby.

Steve's sons will also be mascots for the game and his brother Neil will take the matchball onto the Langtree Park pitch.

Both teams will also be wearing special commemorative warm up sweatshirts.
