Ricky Tomlinson calls for people to sign Shrewsbury 24 petition
Ricky Tomlinson is calling on people to sign a petition calling on the government to release documents about a builders' strike which lead to him being jailed.
The actor was one of three men imprisoned on charges of conspiracy after the industrial action in 1972.
They had been picketing construction sites in Shrewsbury in support of a nationally-called builders' strike.
They have always claimed the charges were politically motivated.
A campaign group has uncovered many documents in the National Archives at Kew that have been released under the "thirty-year rule".
However, researchers claim they have also found a number of Government documents relating to the 1972 strike that have been withheld.
The Government says the documents should not be seen until 2021 on the grounds of national security.
Mr Tomlinson will take his petition to Downing Street next week.
