Padiham fire "started deliberately"
Police are appealing for information after a fire was started deliberately at a recycling centre in Padiham.
Fire crews were called to a large fire at the recycling centreon Park Lane on Wednesday afternoon.
On arrival, they discovered a large fire which had begun to spread and is believed to have been started deliberately by someone setting fire to a large collection of plastic material.
Police were called and detectives are now appealing to anyone with any information about how the fire may have started or about the people responsible to come forward.
DC Martin Legdon of Burnley CID said,
“This was a reckless and extremely dangerous thing to do and it is fortunate that the fire was spotted and fire officers were able to extinguish it before it spread any further.
“If anyone has any information that they think could help us trace the people responsible then I would urge them to call us as soon as possible by calling 101 and quoting log number LC-20130724-1129.”
