Greater Manchester Police is advising well-wishers wanting to pay their respects to Fusilier Lee Rigby to line designated roads for his funeral on Friday, 12 July 2013.

Fusilier Rigby will be laid to rest at a service at Bury Parish Church starting at 11am, followed by a private family burial.

It is anticipated that the area around the Church will be extremely busy so Greater Manchester Police is working with Bury Council and Rochdale Council to designate suitable roads for members of the public to line to pay their respects once Lee's body leaves the Church.

Anyone wishing to do so should line Rochdale Road from the town centre to Heap Bridge should they wish to pay their respects to Fusilier Lee Rigby as his body leaves the Church in Bury, and on Hollin Lane between Langley Lane and Rochdale Road as the cortege travels through Middleton.

Members of the public are asked to line these routes between 11.30am and 12.15pm. Well wishers are also asked to stick to these designated areas to ensure the cortege and other traffic in the towns have a safe passage and prevent major disruption on what will undoubtedly be a very busy day in both towns.

Members of the public are all asked, in strict accordance with the families wishes, to not attend or line any route as Lee is laid to rest at the private burial site.

The family have requested this is a private, family only matter so anyone who wishes to pay their respects should line the aforementioned routes only.
