Chinese New Year celebrations
Chinese communities across the North West are celebrating the year of the Snake for Chinese New Year. In Liverpool the highlight will be Sunday’s traditional dragon, unicorn and lion parades in Chinatown, culminating in a spectacular fire cracker display in Great George Square starring the ‘Lucky Man’ who will be handing out red envelopes to children. There will also be music performances, dancing and tai chi demonstrations held throughout the weekend along with Sunday’s Taste of China street market. In Manchester the parade will begin at the Manchester Town Hall and proceed to China Town, starting at 12:30. Several road closures are in place.
