Forty years of Deirdre

It's been 40 years since Anne Kirkbride stepped out onto the cobbles as Deirdre. She's changed he last name a few times during her four decades on the soap....Hunt/Langton/Barlow/Rachid/Barlow. Phew!

Tonight ITV1 will air a special programme called Deirdre and Me: 40 Years on Coronation Street. (9pm)

There's quite a lot to salute the actress for, from that love triangle with Ken and Mike to the Moroccan waiter to becoming the Weatherfield One.

Tonight Anne will take us on a journey behind the cameras and recalls some of her most famous moments on the cobbles.
