Man arrested in connection with grenade attack

Police have arrested a man wanted in connection with a grenade and gun attack, which left one man dead.

Armed officers arrested 33-year-old Anthony Wilkinson in a park near Herne Street in Openshaw at about 12:00.

Wilkinson was one of two men sought by Greater Manchester Police in connection with the death of David Short in August.

Police say inquiries were "ongoing" and the force was still searching for 29-year-old Dale Cregan.

He'd been wanted over the death of David Short who was shot and fatally injured in a grenade attack at a house in Clayton last month.

His death followed the fatal shooting of his son Mark months earlier at this pub in Droylsden.
