One Direction exclusive on Granada Reports tonight

One Direction have been talking to our entertainment reporter Caroline Whitmore about their whirlwind rise to fame.

Its been little more than a year since the boys, including Harry Styles from Holmes Chapel in Cheshire, were last on Granada Reports.

Back then they were little more than former X-Factor contestants but they still drew crowds of girls outside the studios.

Since then they have rocketed to the top of the charts in America and their fan base has exploded.

So following their US success it comes as no surprise that One Direction picked up three gongs last night at the Teen Choice Awards.

They walked away with the awards for Choice Breakout group and Choice Love Song for their hit What Makes You Beautiful.
