Thousands turn out for Great Manchester Swim
More than 3000 people have taken part in this year's Great Manchester Swim in Salford Quays.
Some of the world's top swimmers joined thousands of amateurs from across the North West in the 1 mile race.
The number of competitors has almost doubled since the event began in 2010.
The dock-to-dock course starts near The Lowry and finishes alongside the Salford Water Sports Centre.
Spectators were able to walk along the dockside, following swimmers around the course.
Among the spectators were Olympic silver medallist Gail Emms.
