Skeletal remains are believed to have been found inside a burnt-out car in St Saviour in Guernsey.
The discovery was made at Petit Bot on Guernsey's south coast on Monday morning.
The 33-year-old was found dead in a burnt out car in January 2018 and died from a gunshot wound to the head.
An inquest at Guernsey's Royal Court confirmed the cause of death, but could not determine whether he took his own life or was murdered.
The Latvian's remains were found in his burnt-out car in a secluded lane at Guernsey's Petit Bot Valley in January last year.
