Guernsey's Education Committee face vote of no confidence

Guernsey's Education Committee are facing a vote of no confidence today, over concerns they don't support the move away from the eleven plus system.

Deputy Emilie Yerby called for their resignations in December after just two out of five members voted for an all inclusive system, which was passed by the States.

Deputy Marc Leadbeater, who voted in favour of the move, quickly resigned but will stand again for his vacant seat.

A Guernsey Deputy who resigned from the Education Committee amid controversy over the scrapping of the eleven plus, will stand again for his vacant seat.

Deputy Marc Leadbeater stepped down after Deputy Emilie Yerby called for the whole committee to leave their jobs, because of concerns that the majority didn't support the move towards an all inclusive education system.

Today the remaining four members face a vote of no confidence.
