Development of Jersey's St Lawrence Church a step closer

Plans to develop a Jersey church around a thousand years old have moved one step closer.

The Ecclesiastical Court met at St Lawrence church yesterday to finalise proposals that will see an extension added to the rear of the building.

Parishioners were hoping for a last minute intervention, which would prevent development of the church which dates back to the 11th Century.

An online petition has been set up to protest the plans and has gained nearly 300 signatures.
