A by-election is being held to find a new Jersey Senator.

It's after Dr Zoe Cameron resigned, saying she struggled to 'make an impact in modern day Jersey'.

Unions to quiz candidates at hustings

Around 100 people turned out for the hustings at St Saviour Parish Hall earlier this month

Candidates standing for Senator in Jersey will be quizzed by unions at a hustings this Friday.

The event is being organised by the Jersey Trades Council, who hope it will be an opportunity for trade unionists and "working people" to get their voices heard.

We want a genuine debate where candidates have the space to give answers and the public can listen in order to inform their voting decisions.

The following items will be on the agenda:

  • Zero hours contracts
  • MTFP and its long term impact
  • The future of Education in Jersey
  • New taxes and charges
  • Housing
  • Health

The hustings will take place at 7pm at St Helier Parish Hall.
