WATCH: Firefighters describe battling extreme conditions during Saturday's rescue

A video has been released showing the Jersey Fire and Rescue Service battling extreme conditions on Saturday evening whilst trying to rescue two people.

The footage shows three firefighters punching through six-foot waves off the coast off Green Island.

Initially, the crew planned to launch their boat from Green Island, but had to launch from Le Hocq instead because conditions were too severe.

The rescue boat was eventually launched at about 8.20pm, along with two RNLI lifeboats.

Emergency crews were able to recover both of them, but 32-year old Joy Godfray died later in Hospital.
