Senator Zoe Cameron quits Jersey politics

Senator Zoe Cameron has resigned from the States of Jersey.

Dr Cameron says she does not 'possess the qualities or stamina required to make an impact in modern day Jersey.'

A by-election will be held to fill the vacant Senatorial seat.

Zoe Cameron: "Islanders' concerns not listened to"

The concerns of the Jersey public are not being listened to by politicians, according to Senator Zoe Cameron who has resigned from the States this morning.

Explaining her reasons for quitting politics, she said she was hoping her experience as a doctor would be useful in government - although Senator Cameron was not chosen to be part of the Heath and Social Services ministerial team.

Doctor Cameron says bureaucracy is getting in the way of providing good public services in the island.

She's told ITV News that it is not easy enough for the public to talk directly to Ministers.
