The veteran politician served as a Deputy for Vale since 2000.

Bailiff pays tribute to Deputy Dave Jones

Guernsey's bailiff has paid tribute to Deputy Dave Jones, who died this morning.

Sir Richard Collas has described Deputy Jones as "a man of strong beliefs which he expressed with clarity and conviction".

Deputy Dave Jones was one of our most passionate, and compassionate, politicians devoted to his adopted island, to islanders and in particular to his parishioners on whose behalf he worked tirelessly even when struggling with ill health.

His speeches in the States of Deliberation were well received and his sense of humour always shone through.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Bonnie and his children.

Dave Jones served as Deputy for Vale since 2000, and was Housing Minister for 12 years.
