Jersey business women fight for boardroom equality

Charlotte Valeur

Top business women in Jersey are fighting for equality across the boardroom.

Business woman Charlotte Valeur says companies should do more to recognise diversity.

She says women can improve the economy.

Jersey is well behind in terms of gender diversity. It's a real problem for Jersey, I don't think that Jersey as a country is producing as much as they can produce because they have too many women that are not active all the way up to the top, but the top has got to show the way, you cannot just sit and think that it's everyone else's problem. Jersey could actually have gross rate of GDP at much higher levels if we get women active up to the very top.

On the boards of all Jersey government-owned companies, men rule the way.

Charlotte Valeur says it is an "insult to the stakeholders and there is absolutely no excuse for not having a diverse board".
