Jersey parish call to improve community life

Are we losing a sense of community in Jersey?

Well a survey shows the parish of St Martin in Jersey want to improve their community life.

They want to use the old St Martins Primary School site for healthcare facilities or for childcare services.

Residents say it is important to preserve the "quiet, peaceful and friendly" atmosphere of the neighborhood.

There was little support for further residential development.

They believe the facility should also be able to pay for itself, without any financial burden to pay for future operating costs.

400 survey responses were received, 80% of those were from residents of the parish.
