Gold medalist Kim Ashton told ITV News she hopes her victory will set a precedent for Jersey at these Games to kick on and bring in a record medal haul.
Ashton's gold in the women's time trial was Jersey's first of the NatWest Island Games 2015 and it is hoped many will follow.
She also said she hoped her success will inspire more island youngsters to get involved in sport in the long-term.
The weekend event coincides with International Pride Month and the 51st anniversary of the Stonewall riots.
The scheme has been backed by the island's Lieutenant-Governor, and is the first of its kind in the Channel Islands.
