Richard De Wit has admitted to an ITV investigative journalist that he did see Sarah Groves after she had died, but he denies killing her.
The Dutchman is currently on trial accused of her murder.
In an exclusive interview he admits that he did make a one line admission to police, saying that he did commit the crime. But when asked directly by policeman turned journalist Mark Williams-Thomas, he denies her murder.
De Wit did also say that he heard noises on the night Sarah died and saw her dead, before escaping the houseboat, leaving his bags behind.
The court trying Richard De Wit for murder has already sat more than 40 times and 20 witnesses still have to give evidence.
