Man tasked with cutting Jersey States spending says 'they move too slowly'

Kevin Keen

The man tasked with helping Jersey's States save money, says the government 'isn't moving fast enough' to make cuts.

Kevin Keen is the former boss of Jersey Post and was speaking at a business event called Network Jersey.

The Chief Minister's Department have employed businessman and troubleshooter Mr Keen to explore where cuts can be made in the public sector.

He previously turned around Jersey Dairy and Jersey Post, making widespread redundancies, which has given unions concern he'll advise on big job cuts in the States.

They never move fast enough; it's such a complex organisation and we've all got a view as to how it should be run and therefore I think it makes it difficult for them to make decisions. So they're not moving fast enough. They have got time to deal with this but I think to the extent that it impacts on people they should get on and make the decisions as soon as possible.
