Deputy Steve Luce has been elected Planning and Environment Minister, beating Deputy Carolyn Labey to the seat.
Deputy Luce received 36 votes to Deputy Labey's 10, whilst there were three abstentions.
The result means all 10 seats on the new Council of Ministers have been filled.
All 10 of the positions have been filled by the Chief Minister's preferred choice.
The weekend event coincides with International Pride Month and the 51st anniversary of the Stonewall riots.
The scheme has been backed by the island's Lieutenant-Governor, and is the first of its kind in the Channel Islands.
