The following announcement was made at the first Senatorial hustings this evening (Monday) in Grouville.
It is with a heavy heart that I am withdrawing from this election.
I am currently being treated for a severe debilitating bacterial eye infection, which started on Nomination Night and has been getting steadily worse, even with strong doses of antibiotics. The eye specialists are contemplating surgery on the abscess. Because of this I feel I must concentrate on getting better.
I wish my fellow candidates all the very best and offer my apologies to all of my supporters.
Around 50 islanders were present for the Hustings. The next will take place tomorrow at St Clement Parish Hall at 7.30pm.
The weekend event coincides with International Pride Month and the 51st anniversary of the Stonewall riots.
