Jersey's Environment Department is reassuring islanders that cannabis being grown on the island is not for recreational use.
Earlier this week the Health Minister issued a licence for the substance to be cultivated, leading to concerns about illegal use.
But Scott Meadows, the Assistant Director for Rural Economy, says it is actually being used to make building materials, skin cream and cooking ingredients.
