The Seigneur of Sark, Michael Beaumont OBE, has died at the age of 88. He passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, after serving in the role for more than 40 years.

The man who will replace the late Seigneur of Sark will arrive in the island today.

88-year-old Michael Beaumont OBE passed away unexpectedly on Sunday from a suspected heart attack.

His son, Major Christopher Beaumont, has inherited the title and will take over from his late father.

Mr Beaumont served in the role for more than 40 years.

His funeral will be held tomorrow at 1.30pm at St Peter's Church.

Sark's Chamber of Commerce have paid tribute to the late Seigneur of Sark.

Michael Beaumont OBE passed away unexpectedly at his home yesterday, at the age of 88.

Sark Chamber of Commerce Council and its members would like to extend their deepest condolences to Mrs Diana Beaumont, her sons and extended family on the sudden passing of Mr Michael Beaumont OBE, the late Seigneur of Sark.

The Seigneur is the symbolic head of the island - a hereditary role which will now be passed on to Mr Beaumont's son.

Tributes paid to late Seigneur of Sark

Tributes continue to be paid across the Channel Islands and in the UK following the death of the Seigneur of Sark, Michael Beaumont OBE.

Guernsey's Lieutenant Governor has expressed his "deepest sympathies", after Mr Beaumont died unexpectedly at his home yesterday, at the age of 88.

The Seigneur is the symbolic head of the island - a hereditary role which will now be passed on to Mr Beaumont's son.
