Cycling: Ashton thrilled to finally get gold

Jersey's Kim Ashton finally got hold of her fifth and sixth gold medals of the Games after finally being awarded victory in the women's town criterium.

Ashton crossed the line first in last night's race but there was immediate confusion as officials penalised all of the Jersey riders for being late to the start line.

After a successful appeal the results were finally confirmed this morning, much to the relief of the Caesarean who had to endure a sleepless night whilst waiting for the outcome.

Football: Jersey's ladies win historic gold

Jersey's women's football team have won their first ever NatWest Island Games gold medal after beating Aland 1-0.

Eve Watson scored the only goal of the game, her fourth in the last 3 matches, to round off an incredible tournament for the Caesarean.

The hosts were cheered on by a raucous home crowd at Springfield that helped them defy the odds against a strong and experienced Aland side.

Cycling: Ashton gets gold after appeal is successful

Jersey's Kim Ashton has won gold in the women's town criterium after Team Jersey's appeal against their penalty was successful.

Ashton crossed the line first in yesterday's race but there was immediately confusion as the host cyclists were penalised for turning up late to the start of the race after being given conflicting instructions.

But that decision has finally been reversed and the initial results of the race are now final.

That means her team-mate Clare Treharne also picks up a bronze medal.

As a result of those standings Jersey also won gold in the team event, her sixth of the Games, with Guernsey picking up silver.

Athletics: Duquemin thrilled to perform in front of special guests

Jersey's Shadine Duquemin smashed the NatWest Island Games record in the women's discus on her way to winning gold last night.

Her throw of 48.58m was more than seven metres further than her nearest competitor as she cruised to victory.

And it was a particularly sweet moment for the Caesarean who was performing in front of her friends and family for the first time.
