NatWest Opening Games Opening Ceremony

The 16th Island Games will officially begin this evening in Jersey.

The Opening Ceremony is being held at Howard Davis Park from 7 o'clock.

Road closures for Opening Games

There will be some road closures and disruption this evening because of the Games Opening Ceremony which is between 7pm and 9pm at Howard Davis Park.

As part of the events the athletes will gather and parade from Victoria College, starting at 7pm, onto Clarence Road and across onto Don Road. The parade will enter the park through the side entrance on Don Road and is likely to take one hour.

At 9pm the athletes will leave the park from both the main entrance and the side entrance and will be directed to their team coach waiting in St Clements Road. Coaches will be stacked facing the wrong way down St Clements Road during the ceremony.They will then exit onto La Route Du Fort under Honorary Police supervision.

Road Closures

These roads will be closed between 6pm and 10pm:

  • Don Road from Francis Street to George Town junction.
  • La Colomberie from Mont Millais to Roseville Street
  • St Clements Road from La Route du Fort to La Colomberie
  • Hastings Road from St Clements Road to Cleveland Road

NatWest Island Games Opening Ceremony tonight

The NatWest Island Games in Jersey will officially start this evening.

The Opening Ceremony will take place in Howard Davis Park from 7 o'clock.

According to organisers it will 'welcome the athletes to the island with a suitable mix of tradition and celebration and will focus on what makes Jersey unique.'

All the athletes will be there and it will be hosted by ITV News presenters Jess Dunsdon and Mark McQuillan along with Deputy Murray Norton.

All tickets are sold out.
