Day 1 of the NatWest Island Games 2015 in Jersey.

With one of the busiest timetables the opening day will see action in the cycling, football and triathlon along with a host of other sports.

Jersey's Jason Fox picked up gold in the high jump. He gives us his reaction.

Athletics: Flurry of medals for Jersey in high jump and triple jump

There's been a sudden flurry of medals for Jersey in the athletics at FB Fields.

Jason Fox picked up gold in the high jump, beating fellow Jersey athlete Simon Phelan.

Shortly before that Kamela Monks picked up silver in the triple jump with Roseanna Hill taking bronze in the same event.

Shooting: Channel Islands celebrate medal success

The Channel Islands were celebrating a gold and silver double in the women's 10m air pistol team event.

Jersey's Nikki Holmes and Mary Norman stormed to victory with Guernsey's Nikki Trebert and Rebecca Margetts taking silver.

Nikki Holmes told ITV News that although having the Games at your home island is a huge advantage it does bring an added pressure and it was a relief to deliver the goods.

Meanwhile Guernsey's sharp shooting pair of Trebert and Margetts expressed their joy at picking up a medal after a shaky start from them both.

Triathlon: Jersey women clinch silver and bronze

Jersey's Jo Gorrod claimed silver with fellow islander Sam Lee just behind for bronze in the women's triathlon.

The pair finished behind the stand out performer from the Faroe Islands to continue the medal haul in the triathlon for the hosts.

Earlier Jersey picked up gold and bronze in the men's individual race as well as a team gold.

Triathlon: Dan Halksworth leads Jersey to team gold

Jersey's Dan Halksworth stormed to gold in the men's triathlon in a time of 1 hour 57 minutes.

James Travers took silver for Guernsey ahead of another Jersey athlete Tom Perchard who claimed bronze.

Those results mean Jersey also took gold in the men's team triathlon event.

Cycling: 'I hope my gold sets a precedent for Jersey at these Games'

Kim Ashton on top of the medal podium

Gold medalist Kim Ashton told ITV News she hopes her victory will set a precedent for Jersey at these Games to kick on and bring in a record medal haul.

Ashton's gold in the women's time trial was Jersey's first of the NatWest Island Games 2015 and it is hoped many will follow.

She also said she hoped her success will inspire more island youngsters to get involved in sport in the long-term.
