Jersey politician calls for more progressive tax system

A Jersey politician thinks the States should bring in a progressive tax structure, which would see higher bands for higher earners.

Deputy Geoff Southern is asking them to adopt Reform Jersey's proposals for the island's economy.

Other policies include limits on the population, introducing a living wage for all and strict controls on zero-hour contracts.

States Members will debate his amendment to the Council of Ministers' Strategic Plan for the island.

States Members will now have to debate his amendment to the Council of Ministers' Strategic Plan for the island.
