Guernsey Air Show organisers hope for bigger crowds with later start
This year's Guernsey Air Display will take place in the evening this year, breaking from its normal Thursday morning start time.
Organisers hope holding the spectacle between 6:30pm and 8pm on Wednesday 10 September will attract bigger crowds, with more families having chance to watch the display together at a more convenient time. They also believe moving the show could encourage more local businesses to sponsor the event.
Russell Clark, Guardian of the Guernsey Air Display Foundation, said: "Moving the Air Display to the evening allows us to evolve the event whilst keeping its core traditions and the aims of the display intact."It’s a chance to welcome more spectators, try new ideas, and ensure the display remains a highlight of Guernsey’s calendar. Barry Neal, Flying Display Director, said: "Everyone we have spoken to has been very positive about the move, including the RAF Events Team, Joint Aviation Command and the private display teams who are keen to work with us to make sure it remains an excellent display."It’s very exciting to be doing something different."Confirmation of which RAF and Joint Aviation Command aircraft will take part in the event is expected by the end of March.
