Guernsey man on trial for historic sexual offences against primary school aged children

A Guernsey man is on trial for alleged historical sexual offences of primary school-aged children.

Michael Derek Cotterill, 82, appeared before the Royal Court of Guernsey on Monday 6 January 2025.

He is facing eight charges for alleged offences between the years 1988 and 1991.

The two complainants were both of primary school age at the time of the alleged offences.

The charges include:

  • Two counts of indecent assault

  • Five counts of inciting children to commit acts of gross indecency

  • One count of common assault

Cotterill has denied all charges.
