Guernsey sees wholesale price of milk increase by 4.4%
The wholesale price of milk in Guernsey increases by 4.4% as from today (Sunday 5 January).
Bosses at Guernsey Dairy say the increase, which is in line with inflation, reflects rising costs and the ongoing need for investment.
Mark Thompson, Chairman of the Dairy Management Board, said "Every effort was being made to contain increases, but rising costs inevitably had to be passed on to customers."
The wholesale price is what the dairy charges for the milk that is supplied to shops and via doorstep deliveries. It is then up to the retailers on whether they increase the price of the milk in shops.
Guernsey Dairy last increased the wholesale price of its milk by 4% in July 2024.
