Plans to be submitted in 2025 for second Jersey skate park in St Helier
Jersey's Infrastructure Minister expects planning permission for a new skate park in St Helier to be submitted later this year.
The island opened its first skatepark at Les Quennevais in 2023, costing £1.9 million.
At the time, the Jersey Skateparks Association hoped it would put the island on the skateboarding map, with Deputy Lucy Stephenson saying it would not be the last urban sports investment in Jersey.
Connétable Andy Jehan has now proposed that planning permission be submitted for a second park in St Helier.
Constable Andy Jehan explains: "The team has worked really hard. We've looked at many sites within St Helier and found one we believe is feasible.
"We are currently liaising with stakeholders and plans will be submitted in the very near future."
The Minister added that 2025 will bring a wealth of investment opportunities, including an £8 million venture for Oakfield Sports Centre.
He adds: "I think it's key that we continue to invest in our infrastructure.
"A lot of services that the department carries out people don't actually see, so it's vital that we continue to invest in those."
