Jersey's Santa Dash raised a record breaking £11,000 for Jersey Hospice Care.

The event saw over 400 islanders, clad in Father Christmas outfits, running a mile through the streets of St Helier on 5 December.

And it was not only hundreds of stylish Santas battling the wet and weather conditions but an army of volunteers giving out costumes, medals and mince pies.

Jersey Hospice Care say they are "thrilled" by the amount raised through the popular event.

Marina Brockbank, Community Engagement Officer for Jersey Hospice Care, said: "I’m so thrilled with this year’s Santa Dash. Not only did we have a brilliant turnout, but it also raised the most amount of money it’s ever raised – and that just shows how fantastic our dashers and their supporters are.

"The money raised covers around a week’s worth of care on our In Patient Unit – so it makes a huge difference in supporting the work we do.

"Thanks again to everyone who took part or supported our fun run – it was a great day!”

Jersey Hospice Care is the island's only hospice and offers specialist palliative care for those with life-liiting conditions.

The charity says it costs £16,500 everyday to run its services, something which is predominantly funded through donations from islanders.
