Visitors to Guernsey hospital asked to check for symptoms after rise in illnesses
Islanders going to the Princess Elizabeth Hospital in Guernsey, as well as those attending outpatient appointments, are being asked to check they do not have symptoms of contagious illness before visiting. It comes after an increase in the number with cold, flu and Covid-19 at the hospital.
A statement from Health and Social care read: "There has recently been a rise in the number of visitors to the PEH campus presenting with symptoms of potential illnesses such as cold, flu, Covid and D&V (diarrhoea and vomiting bug).
"Visitors passing illnesses to those already on wards causes additional risks to patients. This is always true but especially at this time of year when there is an increase in winter bugs."
Health and Social care also added that they may have to impose restrictions on visiting "if the situation does not improve."
