Passengers are advised to arrive early at Jersey Airport and to leave presents carried in hand luggage unwrapped this Christmas.

The airport is expecting up to 22,000 to travel from Friday 20 until Tuesday 24 December.

There will also be flights to Tenerife and Madeira along with regular services to and from the UK therefore islanders should expect queuing.

To help with queues, the airport is offering the following advice:

  • Get to the airport two hours before your flight

  • Keep all liquids, gels, aerosols and pastes to no more than 100ml, and place them in a tray

  • Remove footwear that reaches ankles

  • Remove everything from pockets- including tissues

They add that presents should be left unwrapped if they are being packed in hand luggage so as to not slow down security checks.

Residents are also reminded the 100ml rule for liquids is in place, but there is no need to place them in a separate tray or a plastic bag.

If the approach to the airport is busy, motorists are advised to make use of the overflow car park.

Friends and family collecting family members can use the long-stay car park for up to 30 minutes for free.

Passengers who need to book special assistance for their journey should contact their airline before travelling to the airport.
