Emergency services have attended a fire near Hotel de France in St Helier this afternoon.

The call came in at around 2:20pm, after a fire broke out in the storage room on one of the car park levels of the Lido Medical Centre, next to the hotel.

Nine firefighters were called to the scene and two entered the building wearing breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire, while other crews cleared the area of smoke.

No casualties were reported and the situation was brought under control.

Fire crews praised the speed of the response by hotel staff.
