Son to be held in mental health facility for Jersey mother's manslaughter
A man will be placed in a secure mental health facility in the UK for the manslaughter of his mother.
41-year-old Andrew Charles Nisbet was sentenced at Jersey's Royal Court, having earlier pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Pamela Nisbet.
The 68-year-old Honorary Police officer was found at her home in St Peter with stab wounds to her neck on Tuesday 6 August, 2019.
She was taken to hospital but died from her injuries.
Her family paid tribute to her in a statement
Andrew Nisbet had denied a charge of murder in April, but pleaded guilty to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility.
The government says he was known to Health and Community Services.
Following the ruling, Detective Inspector Christina Maclennan described the case as 'extremely tragic'.
The government will also conduct a Domestic Homicide Review, commissioned by the Safeguarding Partnership Board.
The review is expected to take up to six months. It will be overseen by a suitable and experienced figure who is independent of the agencies who were involved in the case.
